Charlie is, of course, correct. I've been using my CPAP (two different machines) for a number of years on 12 volt. My latest model: A ResMed AirSense 10 works great with 12 volt adapter and sips amps without running humidifier. I found that filling the water chamber with warm distilled water right before bedtime is almost as good as running humidifier all night. It is also very quiet except when Henry (the camping cat) tries to pull it off of me in the morning when he wants breakfast - he really does.
