It may be working. These ammonia absorption refrigerators don't make any noise when running. On propane you may be able to hear a faint noise of the gas burner if you're outside right next to the service doors. They also take quite a while to cool and it may take several hours before you notice the cooling inside. When preparing for a trip you should let the fridge cool for at least 24 hours and always load pre-cooled food. It's not like a home refrigerator.
