Check the spring bars. The hitch head is 10,000 lbs, but the label on the spring bars should list the maximums as 600 lb tongue weight/6,000 lb weight capacity like ours.
You do not have to remove the spring bars. That is a big advantage of the Equal-i-zer, E2, and Andersen hitches (and probably a few of the others also) over a separate friction sway control device. You don't have to worry about forgetting to disconnect before backing up. It simply isn't an issue.
